When Illuminarium Experiences selected Toronto as the home of Canada's first Illuminarium, they chose Secret Location as their joint venture partner to bring it to life. We led every facet of the project — from securing the historic Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District, to managing construction, sourcing and installing cutting-edge AV technology, hiring and training staff, and launching the venue to the public in August 2023.
Secret Location creates all original immersive programming exclusively for the space and retains rights to all original IP produced there.

Illuminarium at the Distillery District is housed in the former Fermenting Cellar — a 13,500-square-foot landmark in Toronto's historic Distillery District. Secret Location led the full build-out and technical installation, equipping the venue with Christie's most advanced RGB pure laser projection systems, a 100+ speaker spatial audio network, LIDAR-based interactivity, and Disguise media servers powered by Unreal Engine.

From the original construction and technical installation to day-to-day operations and original content creation, Secret Location built every element of Illuminarium Toronto.

Secret Location served as the lead developer, operator, and content creator for Illuminarium Toronto — handling every pillar of the project from concept to opening night and beyond.
Venue Development
Secured the historic Fermenting Cellar at 28 Distillery Lane. Managed permitting, architectural planning, engineering, construction coordination, and all cultural integration with the Distillery District.
Technical Installation
Procured and installed 25 Christie 4K RGB pure laser projectors, 100+ spatial speakers, LIDAR sensors for full-body interactivity, scent systems, and Disguise media servers running Unreal Engine.
Operations & Staffing
Built out the complete operations model: hiring, onboarding, training, health & safety compliance, and day-to-day venue management. The team runs all shows, events, and guest experiences.
Original Content
Created all original immersive productions for the venue — including Waking Wonderland, Lite-Brite: Worlds of Wonder, Journey to Oz, and Mythos. Secret Location retains rights to all original IP.
Private Events
Operates a full private events program, hosting corporate galas, product launches, brand activations, weddings, and film productions. Up to 350 guests in 7,500 sq ft of fully customizable immersive space.
